Pequignet x Matthias Marc: the Concorde Damas

Pequignet presents a new variation of its Concorde model, co-created with Michelin-starred chef Matthias Marc, an ambassador of the Manufacture for the past two years. This talented young chef reinterprets this iconic model of the House in his own way. Limited to 50 pieces, this edition features a dial made of veritable Damas steel, a powerful material that further strengthens the Concorde collection.

Damas steel, the new signature of the Concorde collection.

At the beginning of the project, the chef defined his intentions: he wanted to create a watch that would reflect French gastronomy and his world. After several visits to the Manufacture, he discovered the techniques, understood the constraints, and explored the possibilities. He was involved in every stage of the project, with both rigor and passion, in close collaboration with the teams.

Damas steel quickly became the heart of the project. This material, distinctive of chefs’ knives, was transformed into watchmaking material: it covers the dial and the bezel of this Concorde. Renowned for its strength, Damas steel is distinguished by its unique appearance and wavy patterns. Working and polishing Damascus is an extremely delicate process requiring skill and precision. The dial is entirely made of Damas steel, cut from a solid block, shaped into fine round elements, and then polished.

The knife is an extension of the chef’s hand. Damas steel tells the story of the gesture, the repetition, the mastery. I wanted my watch to carry the same intensity.

A case like a chef’s sheath

This co-creation goes far beyond a simple watch: the case takes inspiration from the design of chefs’ knife sheaths. The Concorde Damas comes in a leather case crafted by Maison Boinet, a Living Heritage Company (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant, EPV), just like Pequignet, and part of Groupe Maisons & Manufactures. Alongside the watch are included: an interchangeable black rubber strap and a pocket knife, whose blade also features genuine Damas steel. This knife is made by FAROL, another Living Heritage Company. Its Jura beechwood handle is a nod to the origins of both the chef and the Manufacture.

French movement: the Calibre Initial®

The Pequignet x Matthias Marc watch is powered by the Calibre Initial®, the Manufacture’s third movement. It features a central seconds hand and offers a 65-hour power reserve. It is designed, developed, and assembled by hand in our workshops.

All of its components are sourced within an 80 km radius, and 72% of them come from France. Adjusted in 6 positions with a tolerance of -4 to +6 seconds per day, it ensures exceptional timekeeping precision.
